Spirit Quest
Project Overview
In an attempt to cope with the loss of his mother, Daniel ventures into the desert one morning for what his therapist optimistically calls a “spirit quest.” What begins as a misguided search for peace quickly spirals into disaster when a tragic accident leaves him responsible for the death of two unsuspecting hikers. In a panic, Daniel turns to his estranged brother Jerry, the family’s unapologetic black sheep, for help. Together, the two must figure out how to cover their tracks before the truth catches up with them.
Spirit Quest unfolds as a darkly comedic journey through guilt, consequence, and the absurd lengths people will go to avoid accountability. As the brothers navigate the vast emptiness of the desert and the surreal aftermath of their choices, the film reveals a deeper story about loss, morality, and family. What begins as a horrifying mistake becomes a confrontation with the past, forcing both men to face what they have buried along with their grief.
Set against a backdrop of stark landscapes and dry humor, Spirit Quest examines the fragility of control and the strange clarity that emerges in moments of crisis. The story captures two brothers polarized in personality and worldview, drawn together through tragedy and forced to rediscover the meaning of connection in the face of mortality.
