Reason & Faith
Project Overview
Reason & Faith is a multifaceted historical fiction drama that explores the lifelong aftermath of a forbidden summer romance between Timothy Bridger, a closeted Southern Baptist minister, and Gregory Price, a proud drag performer and LGBTQIA+ advocate. As teenagers, Timmy and Greg met at a Christian summer camp during a rare and complex moment in American history, a brief period between segregation and full desegregation when racially diverse Baptist communities began to overlap. That fleeting convergence of race, religion, and repression shaped the intensity of their bond and the trauma of their separation.
Fifty years later, the two reunite, prompting a deep reckoning with who they became, what was lost, and the space that still exists between them. Through their shared history and conversation, the film navigates the space between queerness and faith, pain and healing, tradition and selfhood.
Filmed in Lynchburg, Virginia, where the Southern Baptist Church has long held cultural sway, the location echoes the film’s themes. Lynchburg’s deep-rooted religious influence and its LGBTQIA+ counterculture directly inspired the story’s setting and tone.
Process & Approach
VITAL Creative was brought on from the earliest development stages and played an integral role across every phase of the project. Our team contributed to script development and historical fact checking, ensuring both emotional resonance and historical accuracy. We led all aspects of preproduction including creative development, budgeting, scheduling, casting strategy, and visual planning.
During production, we oversaw the hiring and resourcing of cast and crew, provided full logistical support, and ensured inclusive accommodations for everyone on set. We also led on set creative direction, managing shoot timelines and guiding performances and visual storytelling. Our collaboration is continuing through postproduction, shaping editorial flow and maintaining continuity through to final delivery.
